The Sand Springs wrestling team gave up only two matches in a showdown of two top ten Class 6A teams, and the Sandites won by 50 points or more for the second time in three duals.

Class 6A No. 2 Sand Springs beat No. 10 Stillwater, 59-9, Thursday, Jan. 5 at Ed Dubie Field House, and the Sandites picked up bonus points with four pins, three forfeits and a technical fall.

Tanner Ward (113), Payton Scott (152), Gage Fain (220) and Delvin Jordan (285) all pinned their opponents, picking up six points for each pin. Riley Weir (106), Michael Ritchey (120) and Blake Sargent (126) all grabbed six points without even wrestling. The three picked up forfeits, and the Sandites tallied 47 bonus points in the 50-point win.

Daton Fix (138) toyed with Stillwater's Tyler Dieringer with a 26-11 technical fall, earning five bonus points for the Sandites. Fix is currently undefeated in high school with three state championships, but he gives up a lot of points. However, it seems intentional. Fix often lets opponents escape from holds, allowing them to score points. He then picks up more points of his own, prolonging the match.

Sandites Beau Bratcher (145) and Mikey Burns (170) picked up the two losses on the night, and Burns gave up a pin to Stillwater's Christian Bahl at the 1:09 mark of the first period.

Luke Bratcher (182), Hayden Cramer (195), Fain (220) and Jordan (285) closed out the dual with wins, including two pins in the first period. Fain pinned Stillwater's Mason Fedderson in only twenty-three seconds, and Jordan pinned Sam Smith at the 1:21 mark.

Choctaw is still ranked No. 1 in duals, but Sand Springs is No. 1 tournaments. The two teams flip flop in the top two spots in the two different rankings.
